I am a husband, homeschooling dad, and CPA who wants to be a difference maker in our homes, marketplaces, and churches.

Jennifer and I have been married for 17 years and counting, we have two sons and a daughter, Ryan is the oldest.

In business, I am on staff with a small public accounting firm, Dehmel & Associates, P.C.  My client base includes small businesses and their owners, physicians, investors, and retirees, among others.  My objective is to help them earn more and then keep more by providing, tax, financial statement preparation, and financial statement assurance services.

As an aspiring writer, Ryan and I blog here as a father and son project, the aim of which is to provide ideas, inspiration, and encouragement to the homeschooling community through our memoirs of our homeschool life, especially the high school years.

I also blog as Crafting A Remarkable Life, a similar aim focusing on my triple life as husband, homeschooling dad, and CPA.

Our family is also active in our local church, College Park Church, leading a small group and participating in youth activities with our kids.

I am 14 years old and, having finished 8th grade, I suppose that makes me a high schooler!

My brother, sister, and I have been homeschooled since the beginning.  Usually our Mom teaches, Dad sometimes helps, but I like working independently. It's more fun if I do everything myself.

I like computers, especially Linux operating systems - Ubuntu and Fedora top the list; technology in general, including HTML, and JavaScript (to some extent), and always excluding Microsoft Windows.  I am learning how to program.  You can learn more at ryanhoots.com.

My brother and I also enjoy LEGOs a lot, we've built quite a few cool things over the years, including spaceships, buildings, and airplanes.

Our church has great junior high and senior high youth groups and I enjoy them very much.
